Harry and Meghan's reality show with Oprah

 

The  tv chat show by US  host Oprah Winfrey with Mr and Mrs Harry Windsor-Mountbatten was widely anticipated by royal-watchers around the world. But for many it was a disappointment. The interview with a selfish  man ho displayed feelings of entitlement and an actress who clearly finds it hard to live without following a script, demonstrated the pointlessness of their relationship.The appearance was not an interview, it had all the hallmarks of a carefully crafted reality show, designed to create controversy. It would have more appropriately been part of a Jerry Springer 'trailer trash' show or a Dr Phil segment.

Meghan can't understand why life hasn't followed her script. She kissed her prince and he turned into a frog!

Politicians will fail to address real issues at the CEDA State of the Nation Conference

Politicians are likely to demonstrate their inability to grasp economic realities at the State of the Nation Conference being held in Canberra by the Committee for Economic Development Australia. Both the Government and opposition have demonstrated that they have no agendas which have any hope of returning the budget to surplus in the foreseeable future. Both sides of politics are unable understand the fundamental issue of cutting spending and are locked into an irrational time-warp dream of perpetual economic growth to drag us out of our economic woes. They need to address realities, not illusions and should be looking at adopting a steady-state economic model proposed by John Stuart Mill. Sand Strategy protects environment and allows resource extraction

  Comments by Ken Henry, Chair of the Australian Climate and Biodiversity Foundation, about Australia's environmental protection laws failing to stop the degradation of our natural environment really hit home. Speaking at the National Press Club in Canberra, he argued that the failure held back economic growth. The need for a better approach to planning and environmental issues has been apparent for some time. The community in Bass Coast Shire recognised this in the early 1990’s when plans were revealed for major sand extraction operations in the district. The community was adamant that a landscape-scale approach to planning should be introduced to limit cumulative impacts rather than the existing policy which only allowed each planning application to be considered in isolation.
