Why bother to vote?

Voting in elections this year will be a serious business (if there is any point voting at all!) The Federal Government is a waste of time and taxpayers' money. With the exception of defence, all necessary functions are conducted by the States, so we have a sham Federation. Much better to face reality and co-ordinate all government actions by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG). We don’t need the extravagance of a multiplicity of politicians and bureaucrats.

Chaos over the past couple of years has shown that the system does not work. Ideas are trampled by political humbug and party agendas. Labor has demonstrated in Victoria that it can’t be trusted. The picture is just as dismal in Canberra where the Coalition has run amok. If anyone feels that they must vote for a party, it’s best to ignore Labor, Liberals, Nationals, Greens and Democrats. That leaves a limited field, because in Victoria few independent politicians  acted in the interests of the community  one was Dr. Catherine Cumming. Others represented Sustain Australia and the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.

The Victorian State election is due in November and a Federal election is expected in May.
