'Steps towards tyranny' in Australia - not just the view of Bernardi

 

Former Liberal MP and leader of the Australian Conservatives, Cory Bernardi says that other State Governments will push for their own extended emergency lockdown laws once the Victorian Pandemic Bill is approved, giving special powers to the Premier.

Mr Bernardi said other jurisdictions will cite Victoria as “justification” for imposing similar laws after the legislation is passed.

“This country has already taken steps toward tyranny that most of us could never have envisaged,” he said. His Sky News colleague, Chris Kenny, speaking about the latest Covid variant said: "now the Omicron variant has given them the excuse they wanted, the excuse to slide back into paranoia.

“There is a sickness sweeping the nation, and it is not Omicron; it’s political overreach,” he added.

It is remarkable how well the Victorian Government has succeeded in conning media outlets to pedal its propaganda and spread fear to convince cross bench politicians and a gullible public to support its views.TV 'personalities have allowed themelves to be used to spread the drivel prepared by Government spin doctors. The Government has generated most of the 'misinformation' which clutters news bulletins, newspapers and tv. Once the Bill is enacted, all Victorians will be at the mercy of power-crazed politicians.

Bass Coast Councillors should be personally liable for their mistaken decision

  Bass Coast Shire councillors should be held personally liable for any costs resulting from their decision to reject an application by Heidelberg Materials to widen Stanley Road, Grantville, It seem likely that ratepayers will face a huge bill to defend Councillors’ decision at VCAT. The road widening has long been a requirement of the planning permit previously issued by the Shire and was approved by Shire planning staff as well as DEECA. Rather than make ratepayers foot the bill, councillors who refused the planning application should be personally liable. All councillors other than Jan Thompson, who had the sense to vote for the application should pay every cent.
